Madrasa students are willing to do volunteer work in the upcoming Durga Puja if the puja committee wants it, said AFM Khalid Hossain, adviser on religious affairs.

The adviser gave this information to the journalists after the meeting on the law and order of Durga Puja in the meeting room of the Ministry of Religion at the Secretariat on Tuesday (September 10).

The religious adviser said, ‘Madrasa students have said that they are willing to work as volunteers if the puja committee wants. In the past I used to send a summary to the Prime Minister before Durga Puja. 2 to 3 crore rupees were given there.’

He also said, ‘This is the first time that the chief adviser has donated 4 crore taka for the puja. We will make a list and distribute this 4 crore rupees to the poor temples through the District Commissioners.’

The adviser said, besides, 500 kg of rice was given to each pujamandap earlier. We will send proposals to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief through this meeting. 200 kg more to increase rice. If not, at least 100 kg should be increased.

The adviser also said, ‘If any miscreant obstructs the puja activities, the interim government will crack down on them with a strong hand.

I have also proposed that until now (torture on Hindus including attack on worship hall) has not been prosecuted and if there are any cases in this regard, we will monitor it. We want to establish a society without discrimination. Copies should be given to me and the Home Adviser specifically mentioning (non-judged cases). We will take action.’
