His father Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia was a renowned politician and the founder of Dainik Ittefaq. Anwar Hossain Manju was the editor of Daily Ittefaq from 1972-1975.Awami League and its allied and fraternal leaders went into hiding after Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on August 5 in the face of the student movement. Former ministers, government officials and people holding various important positions of the state are on the list of absconding. The arrest was made in the murder case of businessman Abdul Wadud filed at Newmarket police station.Former Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on the night of August 28. He was arrested in a raid in Gulshan area of the capital. RAB arrested him in connection with the murder of gold worker Muslim Uddin Milan.On the night of September 1, the former councilor of ward number 29 of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) from Mohammadpur area of the capital. RAB arrested Salimullah Salu. He was arrested for allegedly shooting a man named Sujan during the anti-discrimination student movement.On September 1, the police arrested Haji Mohammad Salim, an influential former Member of Parliament of Dhaka-7 Constituency. He was arrested in Bangshal police station from Bangshal area of the capital in a murder case.
