Recently, the issue of gas export from Bangladesh to India through pipeline is being discussed on social media. It is being said that although gas was exported during the previous Awami League government, the interim government came and canceled it. However, the Ministry of Energy explained the whole matter by referring to rumours.

The Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources gave this explanation in a message on Thursday.

According to the explanation, gas was being exported from Bangladesh to India through pipelines since August 25. It is also being said on social media that gas was exported to India through pipelines by the previous Awami League government. But the current government came to power and canceled this decision. In this context, Bangladesh has also stopped the connection of gas lines supplied from Bangladesh to various states of India. A video with the same claim has also been circulated.

In fact, no natural gas is exported from Bangladesh to India through pipelines. The claim of stopping gas supply from Bangladesh to India is not correct. However, despite the export of LP gas, its supply has not been stopped. The video being circulated is also two years old and of a different incident.

Natural gas has never been supplied to India by pipeline from Bangladesh. The ministry has also said that the viral issue of the demand to stop the gas line going to the Seven Sisters in India is completely false and intentional.
