ACC case against Mirza Abbas withdrawn

ACC has withdrawn the case filed against BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas for alleging irregularities in plot allotment.


On Thursday (August 29), Dhaka’s Special Judge-4 Judge Rabiul Alam’s court gave this order in view of ACC’s application. Mirza Abbas’s lawyer Mohi Uddin Chowdhury gave this information.

On this day, ACC Public Prosecutor (PP) Mir Ahmed Ali Salam applied to withdraw the case. After the hearing, the court allowed the application to withdraw the pending case against him. The other two defendants in this case are former BNP MP Ali Asghar Labi and government official Mahfuzul Islam.

It is known that in 2006, when he was the Minister of Works, he allotted 19.44 kathas of land in Tejgaon industrial area to a company named Pacific Chemicals. According to the ACC, former BNP MP Ali Asghar Labi and a government official named Mahfuzul Islam alloted this plot through irregularities. The then Deputy Director of ACC Syed Iqbal Hossain filed a case on July 15, 2007 at Shahbag police station. Charges were framed against the accused on February 11 the following year.
