Body of female journalist recovered in Hatirjheel

The body of private television channel G-TV journalist Rahanuma Sarah (32) was recovered in Hatirjheel of the capital. 

He was rescued around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. When he was rescued unconscious, he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2:30 AM, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Rahanuma Sarah worked as Newsroom Editor of G-TV. He is said to have lived in Kalyanpur. Sarah Noakhali is the daughter of Bakhtiar Shikdar of Krishnapur village of Islambagh Sonaimuri upazila. 

Sarah’s husband Syed Shubhra said, seven years ago we got married without informing the family through a relationship. Yesterday Sarah went to the office and did not return home at night and sent the house rent money to a person at around 10:30 pm. 

He said, later I called him and said that if you come home at night then why did you send the money to someone else? Then he said I am busy and hung up. Later around 3 pm I got news that he had jumped into the water of Hatirjheel lake. Later DM came and found him dead.

He also said that there was no quarrel between us but since some time my wife wants to separate. Both of us will go to Kazi office and get divorce. In this situation of the country, the Kazi office was no longer visited.

Pedestrian Sagar, who rescued Rahanuma and took her to the hospital, said that he saw the woman drowning in the water of the lake. After that, she was quickly rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical, the doctor in charge conducted an examination and said that the woman was no longer alive.

Inspector in charge of police camp of Dhamek hospital. Bachchu Mia said that Rahanuma Sarah’s body has been kept in the hospital’s emergency department morgue. However, the exact cause of his death is not yet known. The concerned police station has been informed about this.
