Former Minister of State for Liberation War Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam, Awami League leader Ahmad Hossain and Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail, who was sent on compulsory retirement from the Navy, have been detained.

Tajul was arrested from Banshri area of ​​the capital, Ahmad Hossain from Gulshan area and Sohail from Banani. However, it is not possible to say who will be arrested in any case. 

Captain (Retd.) AB Tajul Islam was the Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-6 Constituency for four consecutive terms since 2008. Earlier he became MP from the same constituency in 1996. In 2009, Sheikh Hasina was given the responsibility of Minister of State for Liberation War. At the same time, he was the liberation war affairs secretary of the party. But later dropped out.

Awami League’s organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain was elected to Netrokona-5 seat in the 12th parliamentary elections.

And last Monday night, Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail was sent on compulsory retirement from the Navy. It is said that the Navy has taken this action after several allegations against him including corruption, disappearance and murder. 

On 22 February 2022, Mohammad Sohail was promoted from Commodore to Rear Admiral. It was alleged that he was promoted to rear admiral as a favor of the Sheikh Hasina government without commanding any ship or base or taking an important military course.

Mohammad Sohail was serving as Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority for more than a year. He was the chairman of Payra Port Authority from February 27, 2022 before being appointed as chairman of Chittagong Port on April 12 last year.

For the next two years from 2010, Mohammad Sohail was the Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). At that time, he was accused of being involved in various charges including disappearance and murder.
