CID submitted the first charge sheet in the murder of Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim (MP Annar) of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency. 87 days after the first arrest in this incident, the charge sheet of about 1200 pages has been submitted to the Barasat court on Saturday.

According to the prevailing Indian law, the investigating agency has to file a charge sheet within 90 days of the incident. Anna’s murder charge sheet was presented after 87 days.

According to CID sources, the names of the ‘butchers’ Jihad Howladar and Muhammad Siam have been named in the charge sheet. However, nothing was said about the purpose of the murder. According to a part of the investigators, the reason for the murder cannot be given until the investigation is over. Besides, the main accused in the case has not yet been questioned.

On May 12, MP Azim went missing after coming to Kolkata for treatment. A missing complaint was lodged at Barahnagar police station on May 18. On investigation, STF of the state police and Barahnagar police station came to know that he was brought to a residence in New Town and murdered. Jihad was arrested on May 22 after the CID took charge of the investigation. Siam was also arrested later.

On the other hand, police arrested seven persons including Amanullah alias Shimul Bhuiyan, Shelasti Rahman, Faizal and Mustafizur. However, the main conspirator of the incident and MP’s friend Akhtaruzzaman Shahin is absconding. CID is trying to bring him from USA to India.

After arresting Jihad and Siam, the CID said that the accused had separated the flesh and bones of the MP’s body after the murder. In between, the meat is cut into small pieces and dumped into the septic tank through a commode. The bones were dumped in the Bagjola Canal near Bhandar. Even if all of them were recovered, the forensic report has not come regarding whether it really belongs to the MP or not.

According to the CID, the DNA sample from the MP’s family was required for the confirmed report of the test. But they could not come to Kolkata due to the turbulent situation in Bangladesh.
