Nurun Nahar is the Governor of Bangladesh Bank

As the Governor of Bangladesh Bank Abdur Rauf Talukder has resigned, Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar has been ordered to serve as the Governor.

This instruction was given in an order signed by Afsana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday (August 11).

It has been said that due to the resignation of Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder, the Deputy Governors of Bangladesh Bank will carry out their daily activities in their respective fields in order to continue the daily activities from August 11 until the new governor joins.

The central bank has gone on for a day without a governor after the resignation of Abdur Rauf Talukder. In this situation, Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar was given the responsibility of the governor.

Earlier, Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder sent a letter of resignation to Financial Institutions Department Secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Khan on Friday afternoon. There he cited personal difficulties for his resignation. However, Secretary Abdur Rahman Khan did not comment on this.

Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder has not visited Bangladesh Bank since the resignation of Sheikh Hasina from the post of Prime Minister on August 5. He is reportedly not even at his residence, the Governor’s House.
