Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami strongly condemned and protested the incident in which more than 500 students were injured in the massive attack by Chhatra League and external Awami League terrorists on July 15 in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Jahangirnagar University campuses on students protesting for the cancellation of quota system in government jobs. Former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar issued a statement on July 16.

In the statement, he said, “I strongly condemn and protest the attack by BCL and external Awami terrorists on students who are agitating for the abolition of the current quota system in government jobs and I call on the government to find a logical solution to the students’ movement.”

The entire student community, regardless of party affiliation, is peacefully protesting to demand the abolition of the current quota system in government jobs. But instead of a logical solution to the demands of the student society, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government ministers have started a conspiracy to thwart the movement of the student society by creating violence by taunting the protesting student society and creating violence.

He also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had made a sarcastic comment calling the protesting student society “grandchildren of Rajakar” in a press conference held at her government bus building Ganabhaban on July 14. General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Roads, Transport and Bridges Mr. Obaidul Quader said in a press conference organized at Awami League’s Dhanmondi office on July 15 at noon that “Chatra League is enough to answer the self-confessed Razakars.” Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hasan Mahmud and Law Minister Ed. Anisul Haque hurled derogatory remarks at students and their parents and heated up the peaceful atmosphere. On July 15, the government launched an attack on the students by the Chhatra League and external Awami terrorists and attacked Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Jahangirnagar universities across the country and injured and left more than five hundred students bleeding.

We call upon the concerned authorities to resolve the logical demands of the agitating students by stopping the terror rampage. At the same time, I call for strict legal action against the attackers through a fair and impartial investigation.”
