Three persons, including two sisters, died of electrocution in a separate incident in Kachakata police station area of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram. Yesterday, Friday (July 5) two incidents happened in the afternoon.
The deceased are Sumaiya (11) and Machuma (6) daughters of Shahadat Hossain of Beguni Para village of Kaliganj union of Nageshwari upazila and Sirajul Islam son of deceased Abdur Rahman Munsi of Bepari Para village of Narayanpur union of the same upazila.
According to Kachakata Police Station, around 5:30 pm yesterday, Sumaiya and Machuma left for their aunt’s house in the nearby area with a raft of banana trees. Meanwhile, two sisters’ throats got stuck in the electric wire for their irrigation pump near the house. They were electrocuted and died on the spot.
At about the same time, Sirajul Islam Vela of Beparipara village was going to the neighboring house. At that time the log of the raft came into contact with the cable of the main line of electricity supply. He was also electrocuted and died on the spot.
Biswadev Roy, officer-in-charge of Kachakata police station, confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the bodies of the three have been handed over to Parirar. A separate wrongful death case will be filed in this regard.
