Certificate Assistant in the post, performed duties in the confidential branch of the Upazila Executive Office. Allegedly, sitting in the secret branch, he secretly takes commission from various service seekers. For this, everyone in the upazila UNO office knows him as a commission boy.
I am talking about certificate assistant Ferdauch Rahman of Sonatala upazila of Bogra. Who is known to everyone as ‘CA Sahib’ of the UNO office in the upazila.
It is alleged that he defamed the name of UNO and withheld various files and demanded commission from service candidates. Several such victims complained to this reporter.
Several employees of the UNO office said on condition of anonymity that Ferdauch sahib’s various commissions are an open secret within the upazila. He has been eating this commission since joining Sonatala. But no one tells him anything. Because he works with UNO sir. If any action is taken against us. So we cannot open our mouths out of fear. This has been happening since the time of the previous UNO sirs.
They also said that with the commission money, they bought a flat for 1 crore in a place like Jveshari Tala in Bogra city, and bought a land for 50 lakhs. Tell yourselves how these are possible without corruption.
Not only this, he is also accused of demanding commission from the employees’ salary. While protesting this, an employee also incurred the wrath of Ferdauch Rahman.
Apart from this, there is an allegation against him that he wants commission while handing over the checks of different offices of the upazila. He also deducts his commission while paying various bills to educational institutes, clinics, hotels, decorators. Not only that, he has also been accused of using three fake TCB cards to withdraw goods.
A number of contractors, who did not want to reveal their names, complained and said that Mr. Ferdauch demanded commission when he went to collect the check of the bill.
Zahidul Islam, the owner of Hillful Decorator of the upazila said, I used to work in all the programs including the national program of the upazila. Ferdauch sahib used to trouble with every bill. I could not take the bill without a commission to withdraw the bill which was official. How much money and bill I get, if I give him a commission, then what do I have! Finally, Ferdauch Sahib did not give me any more work as I expressed my inability to pay the commission.
The director of a clinic in the upazila, who did not wish to reveal his name, said that Mr. Ferdauch used to call us on different days and asked for money.
Jannatul Ferdous Rumpa, the former female vice chairman of the Upazila Parishad, said, “When I got the project work during my tenure, I used to say that you have to pay a commission of 10 percent.” If I give 10 percent commission for the work of 1 lakh rupees, how will I do the work? Apart from this, he used to hold various bills and ask for commission from me.
An official on condition of anonymity said that Ferdaush is corrupting the UNO office. He also guided UNOs to eat the commission. He also served as a CA as a certificate assistant. But his surname is not mentioned anywhere on the table or in front of his door. But the certificate assistant’s nameplate should have been used even on the table.
It is known that the post of CA has been vacant for a long time in Sonatala Upazila. However, Shahadat Hossain, another employee of the upazila, was supposed to serve as CA there.
Shahadat Hossain said, currently I am not in that upazila. But I was serving as CA of ADC sir in DC office. I was also supposed to be given this responsibility in Sonatla but I did not get the responsibility.
In response to why he did not get the responsibility, he said, Mr. Ferdauch served as the CA there. He did this despite being a certified assistant. He has a good relationship with UNO sirs, maybe that’s why he does this duty.
It is also known that Gabtali also had allegations of corruption against Ferdauch.
When asked about these allegations, Ferdauch Rahman said, “I don’t want to talk to you at this moment, since I have no end of guilt.” Nothing can be said without my sir’s instructions or permission.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabrina Sharmin asked about this and said that if I receive a written complaint, I will take action according to the investigation.
