18 killed in multiple suicide attacks in Nigeria

At least 18 people have been killed and 19 seriously injured in multiple suicide attacks in northeastern Nigeria.
The attacks took place on Saturday (June 29) local time. The emergency service agencies reported this information.

A spokesman for the country's police said the three attacks were carried out at a wedding in the town of Gwaja. A woman carrying a child on her back explodes during a wedding ceremony. Other attacks targeted the injured at a hospital and a wedding ceremony.
The Borno state emergency management agency said at least 18 people were killed and 42 injured in the attacks.

The head of the agency, Barkindo Saido, said the victims included children, pregnant women, men and children. 19 seriously injured people have been taken to hospital.

Boko Haram militants captured the town of Gwoza in 2014. The Nigerian military later recaptured Gwoza in 2015 with the assistance of Chadian forces. However, since then, Boko Haram has continued its attacks in the region.
More than 40,000 people have been killed and nearly two million displaced in the ongoing violence. Not only in Nigeria, violence has spread to Niger, Cameroon and Chad.
