Various border areas of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar are shaken by countless mortar shell explosions in the internal conflict of Myanmar, a neighboring country on the southern border of the country.

There is panic among local residents. After a break of a few days, countless and uncontrolled mortar shell explosions continued from Friday night to Saturday afternoon.
Locals said that tremors were felt with every explosion. At the same time, black smoke from the burning of houses can be seen in the sky of the west-south villages of Maungdoo city in Rakhine state.

Rakhine residents are reportedly fleeing their villages for their lives due to clashes between the insurgent group Arakan Army and government forces. However, the BGB and Coast Guard are on high alert along the border and rivers to prevent them from crossing the border and entering Bangladesh as before.

However, no official statement was received from the BGB and Coast Guard offices in this regard.

Many believe that the Arakan Army is detonating mortar shells like this to control the bases they occupy.

Talking to the residents and public representatives of the border area, it is known that there were more explosions before Eid, but it was closed until noon on the day of Eid. Again from Friday night, the sound of explosions is heard across.

The explosion in Teknaf Sadar, Municipal Jaliapara, Moulawvipara, Sabrang Pani Ram, Nazirpara, Deilpara, Shahpir Dwip, Hnila, Naitongpara, Damdamiya, Jadimura, Rangikhali, Old Bazar and several other areas shook the houses.

Siddique Ahmed, a member of Ward No. 2 of Sabrang Union Parishad, said that even though the explosion is in Myanmar, the residents are scared by the loud noise.

Chairman of Hnila Union Parishad Rashed Mahmud Ali said that awareness activities are being carried out so that the people of our area do not panic due to the conflict in Myanmar.

When the commander of Teknaf Battalion 2 BGB was contacted on the mobile phone to know about this, he did not pick it up.
