About 7 feet of carpeting on the north side of the Sheikh Hasina bridge broke during traffic on Friday afternoon. Due to this, daily about 30 thousand people who come from Lalmonirhat to Rangpur for medical and other purposes have to suffer.

Even after the carpeting on the bridge was broken, hundreds of trucks from Burimari land port along with 5 upazilas of Lalmonirhat were crossing at risk. Gangachra Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nahid Tamanna visited the spot after receiving the news.

After talking to the higher authorities, he wrote to the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner and the Lalmonirhat Superintendent of Police to stop the movement of heavy vehicles over the bridge from Saturday. The officials of the local government engineering department visited the bridge on Saturday to repair the Sheikh Hasina bridge. A red flag has been hung at the place where the carpeting has been broken.
