However, according to the police, this murder happened due to previous enmity. Bodies were found on the ground floor and second floor, but bloody footprints were seen up to the fourth floor.

The family alleges that the murder was committed due to a dispute over land in Feni.

According to family and police sources, Shafiqur Rahman is a former Janata Bank driver. Shafiqur-Farida couple has built a new four-storey house at Ara Bari Bottala in West Momenbagh Konapara area of Jatrabari Police Station. They lived on the second floor. One side of the ground floor and three and four floors of the house are rented out. The couple’s only son, Special Branch Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Amin alias Eamon and his wife live with their parents in the same house. Yesterday Wednesday, Al Amin went to his paternal grandfather Feni and his wife to his father’s house. And Shafikur’s daughter got married. She and her husband live near Momenbagh.

Shafiqur’s son Al Amin returned to Dhaka on Thursday afternoon after receiving the news of the murder. Shafikur’s son-in-law Arifur Rahman alias Bappi told Prothom Alo that his father-in-law’s village home was in dispute with his opponent over land at Ramchandrapur in Daganbhuna, Feni. They think that the murder has happened because of this. He said, although the contents of the cupboard were shuffled, nothing was lost.

Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan said, it is believed that the incident took place early in the morning. After Shafiqu got down to leave the water motor, the known killers opened the gate and entered and killed him first. Later they went upstairs and killed his wife. The tenants of the house claimed that none of them noticed the matter.
Going to the spot, it is seen that the house is surrounded by a crowd of eager people. Various units of the police are collecting evidence by installing collapsible gates and talking to the tenants of the house. The police did not allow anyone to enter at that time. Neighbors said, according to their knowledge, no one had any enmity with Shafikur.

Neighbor Md. Parvez told Prothom Alo that Shafiqur Rahman went to pray every morning. Before this he started the water motor. This morning, when the underground water tank of Shafikur’s house overflowed, the people outside kept shouting. A woman tenant of the fourth floor of Shafikur’s house came down to the ground floor and switched off the switch of the water motor. At that time, he saw Shafikur lying in a bloody state on one side of the parking lot. He called the people around. Then call 999 and inform.

Deputy Commissioner of Wari Division of Police. Iqbal Hossain told Prothom Alo that this pair of murders happened due to past enmity. The killers gave many blows to Shafiqur’s throat to ensure his death. Family enmity may also be behind the murders. Nothing was missing from that house. The killers tried to pass off the incident as a robbery. He said, bloody footprints can be seen up to the fourth floor. It is also possible that the murderers may descend from the back through the roof of the house after the murder.

Police officer Iqbal Hossain also said that three teams of Jatrabari police station have been formed to investigate the incident. There is no closed circuit camera (CC) in Shafiqur’s house. However, efforts are being made to identify the killers by analyzing the footage of the nearby CCTV cameras.
