Two people were killed in a collision between a private car and a Mahindra car at Madhupur in Tangail. 9 more people were injured in this incident.
The accident took place on Friday (June 21) around 9 am in the Malaubari area of Madhupur town on the Tangail-Mymensingh regional highway. At that time the private car caught fire, the local people tried to put out the private car fire, later the fire service went and brought the fire under control.
Among the victims, Kamrul Islam died on the spot. His house is in Zainabazar area of Sreepur police station in Gazipur. He is an employee of a rice hotel in that area. Another died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The injured were rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex first. Later, the doctor on duty referred them to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
The injured are- Abdul Hashem (55) son of Imam Hossain of Netrakona, Abdul Qaddus son of Sumon Khan of Barhatta area of the same district, Saiful Islam (35) son of Ahmed Ali of Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh, Mahindra driver Jalal Hossain (30) son of Arfan Ali of Luchia Nagarbari area of Madhupur upazila. , Adnan Ahsan Chowdhury, Medical Officer of Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex, Rubel Mia (40) son of Shabar Ali of Zainatali village of Sripur Upazila of Gazipur, Manjurul Islam (40) son of Raiz Uddin of Nagar Howla village of the same upazila and Salim Mia son of Moin Uddin of Zainabazar area.
Local resident Milan Hossain said, hearing the loud noise, we went ahead and rescued the injured and sent them to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex. On the other hand, the driver of the private car escaped quickly, but a passenger trapped inside was rescued by breaking the glass.
Madhupur Upazila Health Complex’s emergency department doctor Sajjad Hossain Manik said that one person died before being brought to the hospital. 9 people have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as their condition is serious.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Madhupur Police Station Nurul Amin said that a collision between a private car and a Mahindra took place in Malaubari area in the morning. A passenger of the Mahindra died on the spot. 9 people were injured. Another person died on the way to rescue them and take them to Madhupur Hospital. Later they were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Molla Azizur Rahman said that the victims have been handed over to their relatives after the legal process.
