New water is coming in Padma of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi. For the last two days, 20 thousand people of about 3 thousand families of 15 Chars of Chakrajapur Union are living under the threat of Russell viper due to the arrival of new monsoon water.
A Russell Viper was beaten to death at Palashi Fatepur Char in Padma around 9:30 am on Friday.
In this regard, Johnny Ahmed of Palashi Fatepur Char said, in the morning, he was returning home by lifting nets from the Padma River in Palashi Fatepur. At this time I was scared to see Russell Viper in front of me. Later on my shout some people came forward and beat the Russell Viper with a stick. Five days ago, another Russell Viper was killed next to it. Russel vipers are being noticed more since two days since the new water came in the Padma during monsoon.
Bablu Dewan, Chairman of Chakrajapur Union Parishad said that with the arrival of new water from Padma, 20 thousand people of 3 thousand families of 15 chars are in fear of Russell Viper.
