Two cars of Aktaruzzaman, the mastermind of Azim’s murder, have been seized

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) police have seized two cars of Aktaruzzaman, identified as the mastermind behind the murder of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim. Two cars were seized last Saturday from the garage of Aktaruzzaman’s rented house in Gulshan of the capital. One of the two cars is a white Prado model; The other is Microbus.

Sources related to the investigation say that a team of DB raided Aktaruzzaman’s rented house in Gulshan last Saturday afternoon. Later, Aktaruzzaman’s white colored Prado car in the ground floor garage of the house was seized. Another white colored microbus was also seized from the same garage.

Abdul Khalek, a driver of a resident of that building, who witnessed the incident, told the media on Monday night that Aktaruzzaman rented an apartment on the second floor of House No. 17, Road No. 65, Gulshan-2, a year and a half ago. Two days ago, the police seized Aktaruzzaman’s two cars from the basement garage of the house.

Member of Parliament for Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Anwarul Azim was murdered in a flat in Kolkata on May 13.

Meanwhile, the court has ordered the forensic examination of the cell phones of the four people arrested on suspicion of being involved in Anwarul Azim’s murder. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka gave this order on Monday.

According to the DB’s application given to the court, mobile phones of extremist leader Shimul Bhuiyan, Jhenaidah district Awami League relief and social welfare secretary Kazi Kamal Ahmed alias Babu, Shimul’s nephew Tanvir Bhuiyan and Shilasti Rahman have been seized as evidence in the case of Anwarul Azim’s murder. After the murder, they exchanged various information between themselves on WhatsApp.

The DB told the court that it is important to know the mobile phone conversations of the four arrested accused, the mobile phone call records and what kind of information they exchanged to unravel the mystery of the MP’s murder. Apart from this, it is necessary to know whether any information related to abduction and murder including pictures, videos on the accused’s WhatsApp number and mobile phone has been deleted.

The court on Monday granted DB’s application seeking permission for forensic examination of the seized mobile phones.

DB has so far found the involvement of 12 people in the murder of MP Anwarul Azim. Md identified as the main planner of the murder. Aktaruzzaman first went to Delhi from Dhaka on May 20. From there he went to Kathmandu, Nepal. Sources involved in the DB’s investigation have learned that he then left for the United States via Dubai.
