BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas urged the countrymen to sacrifice all their fears on this day of Qurbani.
He said this to reporters after laying wreaths at the shrine of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Shere-i Bangla Nagar on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha today.
President Begum Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, members of the Standing Committee and on behalf of BNP congratulated the countrymen on Eid-ul-Azha, Mirza Abbas said, many of our leaders and workers are in jail. Many leaders and activists spend Eid in jail, some spend it on the sidewalk.
‘Those who cannot stay at home. We have no choice but to express sympathy to all those leaders and activists.’
Eid means happiness, this happy mentality is not present among the people of Bangladesh today, the member of the standing committee said, everyone has a painful face, a painful face. Today, people across the country are trapped like octopuses. We are not in a good position by any means. We are not at peace.
‘St Martin is an island, which is inland with us but is isolated today, food cannot be sent there. Afraid of whom? Fear of the Myanmar army. However, this Myanmar army bowed down to the then martyred president in 1978 and asked for forgiveness. How arrogant Myanmar has become today, they show us blood. Because this country now has an illegal government, an immoral government. They have no support in the country and outside the country. This is why Myanmar is taking a chance.’
Commenting that many countries are paying attention to Bangladesh today, he said that this government is not able to take any decision by selling the sovereignty of the country to other countries. All the suffering of the people of this country is because of this illegal government. If there was an elected government, then the people of the country would not have any problems. It is proven.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is sick. He is under close observation. He requested the countrymen to pray for him.
The people of this country cannot speak today, they have no right to speak, they will die without food, yet they cannot speak. Mirza Abbas expressed the hope that Allah Ta’ala will give this government the grace to face this government by sacrificing all the fears on this day of sacrifice to the countrymen to overcome this.
