Two active members of the banned militant organization ‘Ansar Al Islam’ have been arrested in Chittagong. They are Mohammad Asaduzzaman Asif (22) and Mohammad Ahad (21). RAB arrested them from an abandoned house in Shikalbaha area of ​​Karnaphuli police station on Friday afternoon. Among them, Asaduzzaman is the son of Fazlul Haque of Panchagarh. He is a student of Patia Madrasa, Chittagong. Ahad is the son of Ghulam Mawla of Pabna.

RAB-7 Chittagong Assistant Director (Mass Media) Md. Sharif Ul Alam told Prothom Alo that RAB raided and arrested two people during the meeting. Another 50 to 60 people escaped. The two arrested have admitted to being active members of Ansar al-Islam. A case has been filed in the police station.

They joined Ansar al-Islam, a militant organization of Al-Qaeda ideology, inspired by the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan. But the activities of Ansar al-Islam almost came to a standstill in the raids of RAB and other law enforcement agencies. In this situation, they created a new militant organization called ‘Shahadat’ and started recruiting new members and conducting recruitment activities. Currently their membership is more than hundred. The ‘Shahadat’ group is run by an expatriate named Salahuddin. Who is currently staying abroad. Other members of this group are staying in different areas of the country including Dhaka. Following this, RAB Headquarters, Intelligence Branch of Dhaka and a raiding team of RAB-7 arrested two people from Karnaphuli in Chittagong.

It is known that they have decided to provide training in various parts of Bangladesh, especially Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore, Satkhira and the surrounding areas of Dhaka. In order to protect the privacy of information, it is known that he protected communication through new confidential apps and gave all the instructions of the organization through these apps. Apart from this, information about regular online meetings in an online group called ‘Goraba’ is also available from the arrested accused.
