Five policemen, including two sub-inspectors (SIs) of Narayanganj, have been suspended on charges of extortion from sacrificial animal carts. This information was revealed in a press release of the police headquarters.
The five suspended are SI Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Asaduzzaman; Constable Md. Nazir Sheikh, Jugal Mandal and Tanveer Hossain.
According to the press release, the issue of collection of tolls from cattle carts was broadcasted on a private television. After that, the District Superintendent of Police suspended these five people. An investigation committee headed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Narayanganj district has been formed in this incident. Departmental action will be taken after receiving the report of the committee.
