Photo of other woman with husband on mobile phone, body of housewife recovered after protest

Farzana Akter is the daughter of Basir Ulya of Char Baisakhi village of Subarnachar upazila. Her father Basir Ulyah and elder brother Khabir Uddin said that about five years ago, Farzana got married to Zahirul Islam, the eldest son of Sirajul Islam of Charkalmi village. Yesterday, when Farzana protested seeing a photo of Zahirul with another woman on her husband’s mobile phone, Zahirul beat her. They have settled multiple cases of extramarital affairs of Zahirul before this. Yesterday he was recaptured and killed. No death was reported at their home either. Later, after knowing the matter publicly, they went to Zahirul’s house and found Farzana’s body lying on the floor. They want a fair investigation of this incident and exemplary punishment of the guilty.

Companyganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Abdus Sultan told Prothom Alo that there is a mystery about the death of Farzana Akhtar. Husband Zahirul Islam is absconding since the incident. The body was recovered and sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken in light of the family’s complaint in this regard.
