Biden’s son, convicted, could face 25 years in prison

US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has been found guilty in the case of providing false information about drug addiction while buying a firearm.  

On Tuesday, a court in the US state of Delaware found him guilty of all three criminal charges related to this.

In this case, Hunter Biden can be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years in prison. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for providing false information while purchasing a firearm. He faces up to 5 years in prison for entering false information in the arms dealer’s records and up to 10 years for illegal possession of firearms while intoxicated.

The first charge against Biden’s son is that he gave false information when purchasing a firearm. The second allegation is that the arms dealer also committed false information in his documents. The third charge is that Hunter Biden illegally possessed a firearm.

In this case, it is said that Hunter Biden bought a handgun in 2018. He gave false information about his drug addiction while buying that weapon.

Hunter Biden has faced criticism for drug addiction and personal life. He had to suffer with these issues for a long time. He admitted to cocaine addiction in 2018.

Hunter’s older brother Beau Biden died of cancer in 2015. Hunter Biden wrote in his autobiography ‘Beautiful Things’ that he became addicted to drugs after his brother’s death. Hunter quit drugs in 2019.

Under US law, citizens of the country have the right to purchase firearms. But while buying arms a person must mention in the application whether he is addicted to drugs or not.
