The court has sentenced a young man named Mohammad Ali alias Bappi (26) to death for killing a class 3 girl student after raping her and throwing her body in the Dakatiya river in Chauddagram Upazila of Comilla. Judge (District and Sessions Judge) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Comilla Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal-1 gave this verdict at around 11:30 on Tuesday. Muhammad Ali was in the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
According to the details of the case, on March 15, 2019, at around 3:30 pm, Mohammad Ali took the child to a tin room in the school after telling him to feed him tamarind. After that, he raped and killed the child and threw the body in the Dakatiya river after wrapping it in sackcloth. After this incident, he himself hired an autorickshaw and miked the news of the child’s disappearance. At one point, the local people got suspicious. After beating him, he confessed to killing the child after raping her and missing the body. In this incident, the child’s father filed a case under Women and Child Abuse Act at Chouddagram Police Station the next day. Muhammad Ali was made the sole accused in the case.
On June 2, 2019, Muhammad Ali and Md. of the same village. Deputy Inspector Iqbal Monir of Chauddagram Police Station filed the charge sheet in the court in the name of Mizan (22). The complaint was framed in this case on March 8, 2020. Then the testimony of 10 people was taken in the case. Today the court sentenced Muhammad Ali to death and fined 50 thousand rupees. The other accused. The judge acquitted Mizan.
Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, the child’s father said, ‘I am happy with this verdict. I want to see the immediate execution order. My unintelligent child was raped by wrapping a veil around her face and neck. The neck is then strangled to ensure death. Later Muhammad Ali wrapped the body and floated it in Dakatiya river near the house. I will have peace if the execution of the person who committed so many crimes together is speedy.’
Pradeep Kumar Dutta, special counsel for the state of Comilla Court, said that they want the speedy implementation of the verdict. Muhammad Ali cruelly tortured innocent children. This judgment is an example of justice. On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused. Atiqul Islam said, the defendant is very unhappy with the verdict. They will appeal after receiving the copy of the judgment.
