The Israeli military confirmed the death of four more hostages in Gaza. They were kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 last year.

Four died together during an Israeli operation in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Hamas still has their bodies, the military said.

The dead are British-Israelis Nadov Popplewell (51), Cham Perry (79), Yoram Matzer (80) and Emiram Cooper (85).

IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the intelligence had reached this conclusion based on information it received in recent weeks.

“We believe that these four people were killed together during our operation against Hamas in Khan Yunis,” he said without elaborating.

Hamas claimed last month that Nadav Popplewell was killed in an Israeli strike in April.

The UK Foreign Office said it was investigating, but the cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.

Hamas released a video of the remaining three in December.

All four hostages were kidnapped from a Gaza kibbutz on October 7.

“Cham, Yoram, Emiram and Nadav were abducted alive,” the Forum for Families of Hostages and Missing Persons said in a statement. The other hostages who were among them in the previous agreement were returned. And they too should have returned alive to family and country”.

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed his deep grief over Popplewell’s death in a post on Nadav XA (formerly Twitter).

“I am also by his side for his loved ones in this difficult time,” he said.

Nadav Popplewell was abducted from his home with his mother, although his mother was later released. His brother Roy was killed in the attack.

According to Israeli authorities, 1200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage during Hamas attacks in southern Israel.

They released 105 civilians during a week-long ceasefire in November.

About 120 other hostages remain unaccounted for, with many believed dead by Israeli officials.

Israel has launched a military operation aimed at destroying Hamas in response to cross-border attacks.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, at least 36,470 people have died in Gaza during the nearly eight-month war.
