Additional IGP Barrister Haroon Or Rashid has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). This information was informed in a notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (May 29).
He will replace the current Director General M Khurshid Hossain. In a separate order, the current DG Khurshid Hossain was retired. Haroon Or Rashid will take over on June 5.
Barrister Haroon Or Rashid’s house is in Mollakandi village of Baluchar Union of Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj. Currently he is working as Additional IGP (Human Resource Management) in Police Headquarters. Earlier he was the DIG of Police Mymensingh Range.
Harun Or Rashid completed his MSc in Statistics from Dhaka University in 1994 . He obtained LLB degree from University of London in 2009 and MBA degree from Dhaka University in 2016 . Haroon Or Rashid’s father, Ahmed Ali, was a businessman. He is the sixth among seven brothers and sisters.
Haroon Or Rashid started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 15th BCS Police Cadre in 1995. He has served in various police positions. He became DIG of Mymensingh Range in December 2019 while serving as DIG Logistics at Police Headquarters. During his career, Barrister Harun Aur Rashid was under the direct supervision of police service modernization such as Police Clearance Certificate, Online GD, BD Police Helpline and CIMS.
While serving as DIG of Mymensingh Range, he received Shuddhachar Award for the financial year 2019-2020. He received the Bangladesh Police Medal-BPM.
