At least 10 people from both sides, including a police officer, were injured in the clash between the two sides of the youth gang in Madaripur headquarters. The incident took place in the DC Bridge area of ​​the city at around seven o’clock on Wednesday evening.

Four of the injured have been identified. They are Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station AHM Salauddin (45), Munna Munshi (23) of Shakuni area, Zahirul Sardar (22) and Dhanu Molla (23).According to police and eyewitness sources, a driver was driving an easybike while talking loudly on the mobile phone in the DC Bridge area during Maghrib prayers. At that time, some teenagers from the College Road area came on a motorcycle and asked the driver to remove the easy bike from the main road. With this, the easybike driver and his passenger said. There is an argument between teenagers riding motorcycles with Zahid. Due to this, the youth gang members of Shakuni area clashed with the youths of College Road area with indigenous weapons. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and fired a few blank rounds to control the situation. At that time, bricks were thrown at the police, and at least 10 people from both sides, including the OC of Sadar police station, were injured.

The injured persons have been treated in various private hospitals of the city including Madaripur 250 bed district hospital. Meanwhile, additional police have been deployed in the DC Bridge area to avoid another clash.

Eyewitness Arafat Hasan said, ‘People on both sides are reckless. They first threw bricks and chased each other. At this time bricks were being thrown like rain. Later, youths from both sides clashed with ramdas, shields, sticks, rods and sticks. The clash lasted for about an hour.

When asked, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Police Station AHM Salauddin told Prothom Alo that teenagers from College Road and Shakuni areas of the city got involved in a clash over a trivial matter. The police operation is on to catch the people involved in this incident.
