At least 18 deaths have been reported in seven districts of Bangladesh in the past three days due to the sudden flood.
It has affected 4,938,159 people across 11 districts in the country, said Kamrul Hasan, secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
He shared the information at a press conference on the ongoing flood situation at the Secretariat on Saturday.
Six rivers across south-eastern and north-eastern regions are flowing above the danger level, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre’s (FFWC) latest bulletin till 9am on Saturday.
The rivers are Kushiyara, Manu, Khowai, Gumti, Muhuri, and Feni.
Of those, Kushiyara was flowing 14cm above the danger mark at Amalshid, 1cm at Sheola, 9cm at Sherpur-Sylhet, and 4cm at Markuli.
The Manu was flowing 91cm above the danger level at Moulvibazar, Khowai river 44cm above the danger mark at Ballah, the Gumti 96cm at Comilla and the Feni at 53cm at Ramgarh point
