Shakib became the first bowler of Bangladesh to take 700 wickets in three editions. No other bowler in Bangladesh has 400 wickets. Second place pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has 390 wickets. The third highest wicket is Mustafizur Rahman – 309.
Shakib is the 17th bowler in the world overall in the 700-wicket club. Seventh among spinners, but Shakib is second as a left-arm spinner. Only Daniel Vettori has done this feat as a left-arm spinner before him. His wickets are 705. That means it is only a matter of time for Shakib to become the most wicket-taker among left-arm spinners.
