Twelve children were killed when a school-going minibus collided with another vehicle in South Africa. The incident took place in Johannesburg, Gauteng province early Wednesday morning.
The local administration said the minibus was going to school with children. On the way to Johannesburg, the bus collided with another bus and caught fire. 12 children including the driver were killed. Besides, seven more children are hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to local media, the accident took place in Merafong area, 70 km west of the city. The minibus was completely destroyed.
Gauteng Provincial Education Minister Matomi Chilowane said, “I am deeply saddened by this tragic accident.” Losing children is a devastating blow to our community. We express our condolences and condolences to the families of the students killed and injured in the accident.
